Napoleonic Austrian Grenzer

28 mm Frontrank (now Gripping Beast) Napoleonic Austrian Grenzer. Varnished with two layers of Vallejo Ultra Matt Polyurethan varnish, applied with a brush. The officer with the three soldiers will form a Song of Drums and Shakos squad, together with the two Hussars and two Uhlans.

Napoleonic Austrian Hussars. 1. Regiment Kaiser Franz

28 mm Frontrank (now Gripping Beast). There are many Hussars painted as the colourful 4th Regiment, but I prefer the dark blue and black dress of the 1st Hussar Regiment Kaiser Franz. I am quiet satisfied how the horses turned out, because I have never painted these schemes, before. But after varnishing, I found out, that I should add more brighter highlights on future miniatures. Painting under artificial light in the night always misleads my sense for the right strength of the highlights. If it's ok under the artificial light, it turns out too weak at daylight. If I think the highlights are too stark, they are perfect at the following day.
